PARIS, France – With the news of Aston Martin and Peugeot looking to kill off their Hypercar programs, an FIA WEC Hypercar executive spoke with The Lugg Nutt on how this affects the future of the Hypercar platform as a whole. “Many say Hypercar is dead, but to be dead, one must first be alive. Hypercar has never been alive. It’s been an idea – the Ultimate GT of the FIA if you will. Simple as that.”
The executive would not say if the FIA and ACO should have just joined forces with IMSA when the DPi formula was first announced, but did say it was hard to predict that a formula that costs 6 to 7 times more than another would not work when performance is the same.
