DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – NASCAR officials pushed back the original Daytona 500 start time yesterday in an effort to hit the internal weather delay targets set by corporate.  “The weather delay initiative was started in 2019 and we want to continue it in 2020,” said one NASCAR official, “We saw rain was coming later in the afternoon, so instead of moving the race up earlier to get the whole thing in like every other series tries to do, or at least starting at our originally proposed time, we pushed it back by an hour to make sure that rain was coming down during our warm up laps.”

Now that we have to run our biggest race on a Monday afternoon, our season is off a better start than we could have hoped for!”
