PARIS, France – After backlash for Aston Martin Racing’s all-pro lineup in the GTD Pro-Am division at IMSA’s Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, the FIA has announced the creation of Pro and Am designations for the Bronze and Silver Driver Ratings. “We hope this smooths out the complexity and makes things more clear,” said FIA spokesman Pierre Cognette, “So we will be adding Pro and Am designations to the Bronze and Silver driver ratings. From top to bottom we have Platinum for the pros, Gold for the pros, then for the Am categories we have Silver Pro, Silver Am, Bronze Pro, and Bronze Am. Simple.”
While the pro and am designations have not been fully defined, the FIA is sure they can make it as confusing as possible by creating an algorithm based on age, results, and twitter activity.
