DES MOINES, Iowa- Responding to a story reported by CNN that he told Matt Damon during a private meeting Ford v Ferrari can’t win the Academy Award for best picture, Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders denied the accusation saying his comments are taken out of context. “It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Matt Damon was told Ford v Ferrari had been nominated for an Academy Award in the best picture category, I would tell him the movie can’t win,” Sanders said. “It’s sad that, four weeks before the awards ceremony, Christian Bale who wasn’t in the room is lying about what happened. What I did say was that the movie has great cinematography, wardrobe, and two of the best actors alive, but that the voters will lean toward Joker, because it is an edgier pick. Do I believe Ford v Ferrari can win in 2020? Of course! After all, it does have a fantastic soundtrack and some sweet car noises.”

Damon wrote in a statement released by his spokesperson that,”“Among the topics that came up was what would happen if Ford v Ferrari were to be nominated for best picture. I thought the movie could win; he disagreed.”
