DUBAI, UAE – The Dubai Autodrome held it’s annual 24 Hour race over the weekend, and as a nod to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, the United Arab Emerates-based circuit decided to show off its lack of drainage and flood the circuit, cancelling the race after only 8 hours.  “We’ve seen what COTA has done with crazy flooding and massive damage, so we figured we’d give it a go,” said circuit manager Faisal Al Sahlawi, “I mean they have F1, Indycar, and now WEC events. I want to get in on that action, so we’re doing our best to copy their pattern.”

While the circuit management team could not guarantee their tarmac would crack and break up as much as COTA’s, they are hoping for at least a few hundred meters of damage to get everyone talking about needing a resurfacing, thus attracting the attention of the FIA and ACO.
