INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – After what happened in the last couple weeks to Spencer Pigot, James Hinchcliffe, and Sebastian Bourdais, Conor Daly says he wishes he at least had an IndyCar ride that he could lose at any point. “The stuff that has gone down lately with some of these guys losing rides, it dawned on me how lucky they are for having a job that they lost in the first place, because I don’t even have one to start,” said Daly, who in recent years has only filled in for drivers or done the Indy 500. “It seems like every time I get called to fill in for someone or have a strong showing at Indy, I give myself a false sense of hope that this might turn into something more the following year and then maybe the year after that be told that the team is going in a different direction. That would be find with me to be honest.”

When told that AJ Foyt racing has an opening for next year, Daly said he would prefer just staying unemployed.
