IRVINE, California – With the announcement of their new-for-2020 TCR competitor, Mazda has also made another shocking announcement in that another company will supply the engine to the Mazda 3 racer.  “Normally Mazda builds everything for their race programs, especially on the engine side, that’s our thing,” said Mazda USA President, Jeffrey Guyton, “But for this new project we have decided to reach out to Volkswagen AG and borrow the engine used in their Audi RS3 LMS TCR, VW Golf GTI TCR, and SEAT Cupra TCR machines.  This strategy is really ground breaking for our company.”

When asked who built the engines for Mazda’s Road to Indy cars, LMP1, LMP2, and now DPi programs, Guyton knocked over a glass of water and ran out of the room.
