DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – After seeing a five-car LMP1 class at last weekend’s race at Fuji, IMSA officials have decided to follow suit and reduce their Daytona Prototype International grid for the 2020 season. “Less cars means less BoP and the less you have to officiate”, said one IMSA employee “It’s science. Less is more. But instead of more cars, we’re giving you less. What WEC is doing is smart, just wait until you see Hypercar.”
When reminded how great the 2018 combined LMP2-DPi season was, the IMSA employee reminded The Lugg Nutt that they had DPi teams, who have since either announced leaving the class or said they’ll probably leave the class, that wanted to keep DPi and LMP2 separate for no apparent reason.
