DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – Prior to the 2012 merger of ALMS and NASCAR’s Grand Am, it has been reported that Ed Bennett, who at the time was Grand Am’s President and CEO, had WC Vision (now SRO America) investigate Scott Atherton, the President/CEO of the American Le Mans Series at the time.  “It’s an abuse of power,” said one anonymous former NASCAR employee, “Ed [Bennett] had a call with Scott Bove, WC Vision’s CEO at the time, to investigate Scott Atherton, who was the CEO of ALMS.  I also have confirmation that Jim France was listening in on the phone call and did nothing about this.  This all came right before NASCAR and IMSA merged with Grand Am with Bennett becoming CEO and Atherton just President. Does that seem right to you?  We can’t have rival series looking into employees like this.”

As previously reported by The Lugg Nutt, Scott Atherton, who has since announced his retirement from IMSA, was facing impeachment with many now believing Bennett behind the impeachment call as well.
