SEBRING, Florida – Hurricane Dorian, which could upgrade to a Category 4 storm by Labor Day, has hit Sebring International Raceway and instead of causing damage, the strong winds and flying debris helped fill cracks and smooth out the track surface.

FIA officials went to examine the track and have declared it as a Grade 1 circuit, capable of hosting a Formula 1 event.  “We were looking at Miami to host a race, which obviously did not work out, but now we’re here at Sebring,” said Chase Carey, Formula 1 CEO, “I actually thought this place was an airport graveyard and did not realize anything with any sort of modern infrastructure could survive here, but we’ll give it a go and see what happens.  Can’t be worse than the Valencia Street Circuit I guess.”
