COLOGNE, Germany – Formula 1 has started wind tunnel testing their 2021 cars with a scaled version of the machines. The 1/24th scaled test model, oddly, is just a typical, full-scale car that raced during the 1991 Formula 1 season.
“We’re really excited about the 2021 regulation changes coming to the sport,” said F1 technical director Manuel Faro, “We think the cars look great, sound great, race well, and will be fast. We would have had to make a lot of changes to our wind tunnel to fit a full-scale car in here, but turns out the 1991 machines are 1/24th scale of the current car and work well as the test model. The Ferrari 642 looked great and we had one just sitting around, so bam!, 2021 testing.”
