CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – NASCAR and Charlotte Motor Speedway announced on Sunday afternoon that the CMS Roval round will look at little different this season as the track will add a new chicane on the back stretch in an effort to increase action and passing.  “We were inspired by Circuit Paul Ricard,” said CMS Track President Mark Thompson, “The Formula 1 race there this weekend was one of the best I’ve seen with 14 lead changes and over 50 passes in total, all thanks to oddly placed chicanes and gallons of paint.  So we took a chapter from F1’s book and implemented this new chicane here on the Charlotte Roval.  It will work.”

When it was pointed out to Mr. Thompson that there were not 14 lead changes or anywhere near 50 passes in total, Mr. Thompson confirmed those numbers were given to him by the FIA WEC’s attendance counter.
