DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – While most of the focus from NASCAR’s 2020 announcement was on the Monster Energy Cup schedule changes, a big change in the Gander Outdoor Truck rulebook will allow teams to place Hitch Nuts on the back of their racers. “This has been widely asked for for years,” said NASCAR Chief of Competition Mark Hammond, “Especially from manufacturers as they continue to look for road-going relevance with their trucks. Have you ever seen a street truck without hitch nuts? No, so it’s now time to bring those nuts to the race track.”
Full technical details of the hitch nuts have not been released but it is expected that a set of spec nuts will be used where teams cannot shave or gain any aero advantage off of the nuts.
