DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – The Mazda DPi team, known to other media outlets strictly as the Multimatic DPi or Team Joest, unveiled their participatory livery for the IMSA 50th Anniversary Celebration. The new livery was designed by renowned Japanese artist Haysuo Sato. Speaking to the Lugg Nutt through a translator he said, “I really wanted to capture the essence of Mazda for this design. Using extremely flamable paint allows us to set the car on fire much quicker into the race run so the fans can see it in all its glory.”
No word on whether IMSA will allow a car to be intentionally lit on fire, but we will find out this weekend. In recent testing the car has caught fire organically, prior to the design coming ablaze.
