DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – Two years ago NASCAR introduced stage racing to its audience as a means to increase the action in the middle part of its events. For the 2019 Daytona 500 they will roll out another new twist: a live concert on the infield grass during the stage break. Bruno Mars, known by NASCAR fans as “that little Filipino Elvis fella,” will perform on a stage in the infield grass as cars circulate under yellow. Early rumors suggest that 2018 Daytona winner Austin Dillon may park his #3 Chevrolet to join Mars on stage before returning to the action. “Well we think it will add tremendous value to our competitors and our fans,” said a France family spokesperson. “Imagine if the super bowl halftime show still had the players trying to run routes around the stage, that’s what you’ll see when drivers come in for pit-stops right as ‘Uptown Funk’ gets going.” NASCAR is expected to allow fans to cross the trioval banking while the cars are on the backstretch, so they can get as close as possible to the man they all came to see, Bruno Mars.
