DAYTONA BEACH RED ROOF INN, Florida – Before the first race of the 2019 season went green, motorsport journalist Mark Tarpon lost his series credentials for not posting a single, obligatory and overdone “Good morning from Daytona or Good night Daytona” picture to his personal social media accounts during IMSA’s Roar Before the 24 weekend test. “Jesus Christ, I’m a journalist who follows a racing series around the country, of course you know I’m in Daytona and probably staying at a hotel near the beach“, Tarpon added, “Who the hell cares? I definitely don’t need to do it every damn morning and night. Cripes. I’m a journalist, you don’t need to know who I am. I don’t need to hand out stickers or sell shirts, I’m a journalist that adds nearly zero value to the sport as a whole.”
Tarpon confirmed that instead of covering IMSA, he would still be in the media center for all Blancpain GT America rounds, but would be deleting his Instagram account before the first round in March.
